The timeline of the day
- From 8:00am, your school or college opens for results collection.
- UCAS Track updates your place status earlier in the morning, but it will not show your grades.
- If your firm choice is confirmed, you are done, your place is secured.
- If you have missed your firm and insurance offers, Clearing opens the same day.
What you will actually receive
You get a statement of results listing every qualification, the grade awarded and your unique candidate number. Keep it safe, universities and employers may ask for it later.
Component or paper-level marks are usually available from your exams officer on request, which is useful if you are considering a review of marking.
If your grades are lower than you hoped
- Speak to your subject teacher before you leave, they can see your paper-level marks.
- Ask about a review of marking if you are close to a grade boundary.
- Explore Clearing, thousands of courses have places every year, including at strong universities.
- Consider an autumn resit or a gap year with a stronger application.
Practical things to bring
- Photo ID and your candidate number.
- A charged phone, plus your UCAS ID and Clearing number.
- A written shortlist of back-up courses and their phone numbers.
- Someone you trust, results day is easier with company.
